How the estimate works
The tool counts the words of your story. It then divides that number by the words that one manga page usually carries. The answer is a range, because artists pace the same scene in different ways.
| Pacing | Words of story for each page | Fits |
|---|---|---|
| Action | 60 to 100 | Fights, chases, sports |
| Balanced | 90 to 140 | Adventure, slice of life |
| Dialogue | 130 to 190 | Drama, romance, mystery |
These numbers are our working assumptions. They are not an industry rule. The other numbers are common ranges in published manga: four to six panels on a page, 18 to 22 pages in a weekly chapter, and 180 to 220 pages in a volume.
A worked example
A short story of 3,000 words with balanced pacing gives 21 to 33 pages. That is one long chapter or two short ones. The same story as pure action gives 30 to 50 pages.

Common questions
How many pages is a manga chapter?
A chapter in a weekly magazine usually has 18 to 22 pages. A chapter in a monthly magazine is longer, often 30 to 50 pages.
How many words fit on one manga page?
No fixed number exists. This tool assumes 60 to 190 words of prose for each page, by pacing. An action scene uses few words for each page. A long talk uses many.
Is my story sent to a server?
No. The tool counts the words in your browser. Nothing you paste leaves your device.
How exact is the estimate?
It is a planning range, not a measurement. Two artists can draw the same scene in two pages or in six. Use the range to decide how many chapters to plan.
