Pixel sizes for digital manga

Pixels depend on the resolution. Black-and-white line art is commonly made at 600 dpi, so the lines stay sharp when they are printed. Clip Studio recommends 350 dpi for color and grayscale print data. Confirm the settings with your printer.

B5 (182 × 257 mm)4299 × 6071 px2508 × 3541 px

The formula is: millimetres ÷ 25.4 × dpi = pixels. For a manga that people read only on a screen, a smaller file is enough. A page 1600 px wide is sharp on a phone and on a laptop.

The manga panel layout maker draws a B4 or A4 manuscript page with the frame, the cut line and the panels. It saves a PNG at 300 dpi or an SVG at the true paper size. Read how many pages a chapter has before you plan the whole chapter.
